Voluntary youth projects

CAN has supported voluntary sector youth projects in the local area for many years. We've supported projects in Bournemouth since 1997 and Poole from 2018, and have also supported youth volunteering since 2014, all of which was possible through funding from the local council.

Unfortunately, BCP Council ended funding for this work in August 2020, taking effect from September 2020.

We remain absolutely committed to supporting the voluntary youth sector and youth volunteering, and are currently seeking new funding to provide a service to the sector, so please watch this space!

Historically we provided:

  • One-to-one support and advice on recruitment, employment, management, policies and procedure, budgets and other topics
  • Training, including safeguarding and internet safety
  • Information on funding, grant opportunities and updates about youth policy
  • Accreditation through ‘Young Volunteers’ certificates for volunteers’ hours
  • Free DBS for volunteers
  • Networking with an emphasis on sharing opportunities and skills
  • Advertisements for volunteers and directing young people to groups
  • Promotion of youth volunteering to the voluntary and community sector
  • One-to-one advice to young people looking to volunteer
  • Volunteering taster sessions.
