West Howe Community Enterprises (WHCE) are recruiting a substantial part time Skills and Activity Co-ordinator to join our friendly team. WHCE exist to improve the quality of life for people in West Howe through social events and capacity building. Creating opportunities to connect, be active, learn, give and raise awareness.

The role of the Skills and Activities Coordinator is to:

• Ensure the delivery of a range of skills and wellbeing activities to meet the needs of the local community, including learning and leisure opportunities.
• Working closely with the Community Development and Volunteer Manager, ensure WHCEs base is well used and generates income for the charity.

Main duties and responsibilities -

Skills and Wellbeing
1. Develop, plan and coordinate a skills and wellbeing programme to provide opportunities to the local community. This will include one off workshops and short courses and one off and regular community activities.
2. Develop successful relationships with external partners who may fund or deliver activities for the local community or refer people to the programme.
3. Promote all activities through a wide range of marketing techniques including social media, ensuring opportunities are taken up and that local people benefit.
4. Recruit individuals from the local community to engage with the skills and wellbeing programme.
5. Support individuals during and after their involvement in WHCE activities, maximising the benefit they gain and supporting people into further opportunities.
6. To review the outcomes of all activities and take this into account as new offers are developed.
7. To keep our social media and website up to date
8. Provide data from ongoing monitoring and evaluating of activities, events and projects.

Building Management (in conjunction with the Community Development and Volunteer Manager)
9. Ensure the smooth day to day running of the building including locking and unlocking and general Health and Safety compliance.
10. Account for and bank daily cash taking when required.
11. Market the venue to secure one off and ongoing bookings.
12. Manage venue hire, making bookings, arranging access with key holders and scheduling cleaning and any set up requirements as appropriate.
13. Report and chase maintenance issues

Working alongside the Community Development and Volunteer Manager
14. Seek additional funding, partnerships and opportunities for West Howe Community Enterprises
15. Ensure the sustainable development of WHCE venue use and the skills and wellbeing programme including reducing our environmental impact.

The Skills and Activities Coordinator will be expected to:
• Manage the budget for skills and activities.
• Comply with all WHCE policies and procedures.
• Carry out all duties that could reasonably be expected of this post.
• Behave in a way that is in line with the ethos of the organisation.
• Carry out all relevant training required for the post.
• Work within the team to ensure delivery of WHCE aims and objectives.
• Work with colleagues to cover weekend and evening opening as and when required
And may at times be asked to deputise for the Community Development and Volunteer Manager.
