Bournemouth Gateway Club are recruiting for a part time support worker.

We are a social, leisure and learning club for adults with learning disabilities. The role is very diverse as we are a small organisation and everybody chips in. The main role will be supporting and encouraging members to join in activities and workshops, socialise and build relationships with their peers, be meaningfully occupied whilst with us and ensure the smooth, calm and friendly running of the club. Over the next 6 months we will be focusing especially on encouraging friendships and helping members to best use technology.

On any given day you could be supporting a craft activity, running a computer group, discussing health and wellbeing, making tea and collecting subs, joining in a dance class, supporting a member who is upset and angry, escorting members on community activities such as using the library and being alert to safeguarding concerns and flagging them up to a manager. All while several people try to talk to you at once!

The person we are looking for will be fun, friendly, energetic, a great communicator, able to manage their own time and use their initiative to see what needs doing and get stuck in. You must be calm, kind and sensitive to others needs. Experience preferred but not essential.

The role is based at Embassy Centre, Winton and will be every Thursday and Friday 10.15 am to 1.15 pm and alternate Saturday evenings 5.45-8.15pm. This averages out at 7.25 hours per week.

The rate of pay is £9.30 per hour. Statutory holidays, sick pay etc apply.

If you are interested in the role please contact Anna Reeves (service manager) [email protected] for an application form and job description. You are welcome to call for an informal chat on 07872 627301.
