Welcome to our new online portal supporting organisations to find the right volunteer.

To access the portal, you’ll need to be a member, it’s free - please join us here.

If you are an existing member, your registered contact has been sent an email with a link to access. Any queries please call us on 01202 466130 or email [email protected]

Our members are at the heart of everything we do. Membership is completely free and gives you an opportunity to:

  • access our expert support, professional advice and practical services
  • benefit from our volunteering hub – supporting organisations to promote, recruit, train, induct and provide ongoing support to volunteers
  • influence the development of local services
  • be part of the wider voluntary and community sector

We offer volunteering opportunities in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and across the whole of Dorset too. This is a fantastic opportunity to reach more volunteers via a site that tops search engine rankings.

Simply register to set up your dashboard and start adding volunteering opportunities. We’ll let you know every time someone expresses interest via an email alert and the information will appear on your dashboard.

Getting the right volunteers - make it as easy as possible for people to offer their help by following these hints and tips:

   -      Explain how to apply: by telephone, application form, letter or email

   -      Many volunteer roles do not require a DBS check, but if you do please explain from the start

   -      Meet potential volunteers to find out if they are right for you – and you are right for them

   -      Consider offering flexible volunteering opportunities – more people are likely to come forward

   -      Include information about how accessible the role is for people with additional needs.

Policies and procedures

We’re here to help with the recommended policies and procedures you’ll need to keep the volunteer and your organisation safe.

Any organisation that involves volunteers in its work should ideally have the following policies and documents in place:

  • Health and Safety
  • Equal opportunities and diversity statement (including recruitment of ex-offenders)
  • Confidentiality policy
  • Data protection statement
  • Safeguarding policy
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Volunteer Policy
  • Problem-solving procedure for volunteers
  • Insurance provision for volunteers

If you would like some one-to-one help and advice around writing or reviewing your own policies please contact: Amy Collins on 01202 466130 or email  [email protected]
