Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Our position

We recognise that Covid 19 is an infectious disease that can, and has, affected thousands of people, some seriously including a very large number of deaths. It has not only had a terrible impact on individuals and their families but has severely affected our economy and community life. Therefore, we will do all we can to raise awareness of how the disease works, can be spread and prevented, including vaccination. We expect our trustees, staff, volunteers and any others representing CAN to share this view whilst undertaking CAN business. We have come to this view as a charity balancing the evidence of benefit with harm. If we become aware of activities that could cause harm to the BCP population and community by promoting unevidenced views and actions, we reserve the right to challenge such activities.

CAN and Covid 19 Full Statement

CAN is committed to supporting the local community during the coronavirus pandemic, and working with our members to make sure we're doing all we can to help people in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Find information below on different sources of local support, advice for charities and voluntary organisations, as well as ways in which you can help if you would like to.

The Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport have released a pack to support  our sector in sharing and disseminating information about COVID-19 vaccines.

Are you a member of the public who needs help?

BCP Council is running a dedicated helpline to support vulnerable people who need vital support while isolating at home during the coronavirus outbreak. This includes how to get access to food.

Call 0300 123 7052 – open 8am-8pm seven days a week or visit the BCP Council website.

Volunteer shopping cards

If there is someone you trust who has offered to collect your shopping, numerous supermarkets have made volunteer cards available to reduce the use of cash and eliminate the need to share card details during the pandemic. These include M&S, Asda, Co-op & Aldi.
