Volunteering hub A Good Life programme Great Neighbourhoods For many older people, A Good Life is reliant on a welcoming, understanding, supportive local community. In working to develop 'Great Neighbourhoods' we will engage with existing community groups and businesses, enabling them to develop their support for older people and identify and share best practice. We’ll work with the local community to identify any gaps and work with local people to set up opportunities if needed. We’ll also identify and support ‘micro community groups’, very small (often un-constituted) community groups such as those centred on a single street and work with them to help connect people. We will offer expert advice to those groups who require assistance or wish to grow their offering to the local community. Great Neighbourhoods will complement the 'Community Connectors' scheme in supporting older people. If you are a community group, business or a group that hosts activities in Alderney, Canford Cliffs, Newtown or Poole Town we would really like to hear from you. We believe that by working together to create 'Great Neighbourhoods' we can help to end loneliness in later life.
